Men's and Women's Recovery
HELPING MEN AND WOMEN MAKE POSITIVE CHANGES TO LIVE HEALTHY LIVES
LEARNING SKILLS FOR A HEALTHY FUTURE
Building Skills For Everyday Life!
One of the biggest pieces that are missing for a lot of individuals in recovery is the skills of how to reintegrate back into everyday life.
Our Recovery Programs assist individuals struggling with addiction, trauma, homelessness or other mental health issues that make it difficult to understand and cope with feelings. Substance abuse is an attempt to numb feelings of anger, fear, sadness, and other emotions, both negative and positive.
Hands on learning with horses is a powerful way to get in touch with thoughts and feelings, as for the addict, relying on their mind often leads to denial, blaming others or analyzing the problem. Learning how horses communicate gives a new perspective to thoughts, emotions and problems.

How Does Equine Assisted Learning Work?
Horses communicate primarily through body language. They must be intensely aware of the actions and behaviours of others. Their characteristics of universal awareness, and dependence on non-verbal communication, are very different from those of human beings. However; they are also the characteristics that give horses the unique ability to help us truly see ourselves from the inside out.
The number one thing a horse must feel is safe, they are extremely sensitive to how we move, our behaviour, and our emotions. This sensitivity can predict how horses respond to people and how they will react to different stimuli.
Horses understand how to differentiate between potentially threatening behaviour and a calm, or assertive nature. Our programs are objectively driven to help participants modify their behaviour, overcome challenges to achieve positive outcomes, and learn skills that will help them in their everyday life.
